December 2008

Congratulations to the Iron Maidens for a top notch tournament season!

  • In December the girls regained our Cy-Fair Classic tournament title with a 12-4 win over Memorial. We went undefeated for the weekend.

  • In November the Maidens went undefeated at UT's tournament - which included tying UT's women's team just for "fun", though it was clear this was not a "just for kicks" game!

  • In October the girls took back the Richardson Halloween Shootout tournament title with a win over Dallas' Ursaline for the championship - also went undefeated for the weekend.

The boys are also doing well, but have several more tournaments to go.

Both Cy-Fair Fall Classic tournaments [boys in November and girls in December] had record turn-out's and the new locations for each proved to be better and much appreciated.

Yes this is VERY short notice but Coaches and current players from the Women's USA National Team will be in Houston on Sunday Jan 13th for a full day clinic - the morning session from 9am until about 12pm will be for players thru Middle School (grades 3 - 8) the afternoon session from 12:30pm until 3:00pm will be for High School players. This will be a great way for our girls to not only work hands with but play with 4 of the best players in the world but also get ready for the 2008 season, tournaments and play days. US Lacrosse annually conducts U.S. Women's National Team clinics for youth and high school girls' lacrosse players.

There will be a Goalie here as well so we hope many goalies sign up and get to take advantage of a USA Team goalie.

Again these clinics are excellent opportunities for youth and high school girls to learn from the best players in the United States. The clinics serve as a fundraiser for the U.S. Women's National Teams programs and local host chapters of US Lacrosse.

all the details and sign up instructions are on the US Lacrosse website

Calling all Ironmen Alumni,

The current Ironmen would like to issue a challenge to all you old, washed-up lacrosse has-beens to the annual Alumni lacrosse game on January 5th at Goodson Stadium beginning at 3pm (just after your nap-time).  Dust off those helmets, re-string your rotted sticks, and fit those mouthpieces to your new dentures.  Bring your own Ben-Gay.  Our current Ironmen are gonna show you how lacrosse is supposed to be played!

Please RSVP so we can have enough ambulances on stand-by for you.  If your a little nervous about facing these giants, we've set up a hotline at:  1-800-Im-2-scared-2-play.  Psychologists are standing by.

Come show us what you got left (if anything).

Sincerely,

The Ironmen
